DeSoto ISD Frequently Asked Questions

Updated June 3, 2011

Can I transfer my child to another school within the district?

Per board policy, students are expected to attend the campus as designated by the attendance zone.  Currently approved transfers may continue until the last grade completed, but a new Transfer Request Form must be completed each year.  New transfer requests are limited to extenuating documented cases.  Transfer Request Forms may be picked up and turned in at the Instructional Support Center (200 E. Belt Line Rd.) during the designated time each spring.  For more information, check www.desotoisd.org or call 972 223-6666 ext. 214.

Does your district offer a Pre-Kindergarten program?

Yes.  A child must be age 4 on or before September 1 of the school year in which he/she enrolls.  Pre-Kindergarten is a government funded program for disadvantaged families.  To qualify, a family qualifies for the free or reduced meal program; or, English is not the primary language spoken in the home.  Prekindergarten is available in the morning from 8 - 11:15 a.m. and the afternoons from 12 - 3:15 p.m. For an application for the free or reduced meal program, check with your campus or call or visit the DeSoto ISD Child Nutrition Office, 972-230-4780, 200 W. Parkerville Road, DeSoto, Texas 75115.

Does DeSoto ISD have a uniform dress policy?

Yes, for all grade levels and all campuses.  In general, students must wear white, forest green, gold or black tops and khaki, black or DeSoto plaid bottoms.  For a complete policy overview visit the Web site at www.desotoisd.org under For Parents and Newcomers.

How do I qualify for assistance with school clothing?

Due to budget constraints, DeSoto ISD no longer offers clothing assistance.
