We have successfully completed another wonderfully R.A.R.E. year at West Middle School!

Each year, I am astounded at all the things our students learn and produce. From the ball fields and courts, to the band hall and choir room, to the art and theatre departments, to the yearbook, and all of the academic classes—our students are continually amazing. They are the reason “West is the Best!”

In order for our students to be the best, it took all of our teachers and staff with all of our parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. All things are possible when we all work together. The proof of that is in the success of our students. Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work this year to ensure that each and every child was able to achieve to his and her fullest.

I encourage all of you to continue to work together as you go into next year with a new leader. Whoever that person is, they will need your support, faith, and honesty just as I have needed it over the past years. West will continue to improve and grow if you will all continue to work together for the benefit of the children. Never forget that we do what we do for our children, not for ourselves. We must keep focused on the students.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years as the Principal at West Middle School and as an employee of the DeSoto ISD for the past 11 years. Leaving family is never an easy thing to do, but family is always family even if you’re not together or in the same place. I am looking forward to the new challenge God has placed before me, but West will always be home, and your future success will always be a part of my prayers.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kevin Dixon

West MS Principal

Our students and teachers are all

proud to be R.A.R.E.
